In 2014 the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) led a consortium of organisations to develop a new disability e-learning portal (called Disability Matters) to improve the strategies, understanding and confidence of the paid and volunteer workforces when engaging with disabled children and young people.

Chrysalis Research was commissioned to identify existing e-learning materials within several industry sectors, and map them against Disability Matters’ curriculum areas. We also sought the views of the sectors’ workforce.

We identified and assessed over 660 existing e-learning resources on disability and recommended ways in which Disability Matters could adapt its e-learning portal to link to those resources. Our work enabled the RCPCH to partner more effectively with other learning providers and sectoral bodies and informed the development of the Disability Matters e-portal:
