Qualifications research and development

Chrysalis Research has completed three waves of research for AQA since 2014 to support the re-development of their qualifications in response to Government reforms of general and vocational qualifications.

For each wave of research, we undertook qualitative discussion groups with teachers and heads of department in schools and colleges to:

  • Gauge responses to the qualification reforms and how teachers are
    preparing for them
  • Identify the factors that will influence choice of qualification and exam
    board
  • Assess reactions to proposed qualification and assessment models
  • Understand what support they will need to help them deliver the new
    qualifications

Our sector expertise meant we were able to bring an understanding of qualification development and the issues facing schools to the research. This resulted in more informed moderation, and allowed us to produce detailed analysis and reporting that met AQA’s deadlines for submitting the new qualifications.
